  • Visit of the Commission for Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources & meeting with the Executive Secretary David Agnew;
  • Meeting with the Italian community at the Australian Italian Club Hobart together with Premier Rockliff and award of the Knighthood of the Order of the Star of the Republic of Italy to the Honorary Consul of Italy in Tasmania Elvio Brianese.

Focus on:

  • Strenghtening of the teaching of the Italian language in Tasmania;
  • Role of Italy in the Antarctic Region and deepening of the scientific cooperation btw Italy and Tasmania thanks to the opportunities connected with Hobart as one of the five Gateways to Antarctica;
  • Relaunching of the Sistercity relationship between the Cities of l’Aquila and Hobart, including by framing it into a broader cooperation between the Governments of Abruzzo and Tasmania;
  • Reinforcing “people-to-people” relations also through a parliamentary cooperation dimension;
  • Promoting business opportunities in niche sectors of high technological value thanks to the parallel visit to Hobart of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Melbourne.
