The President of the Lombardy Government, Attilio Fontana, signed yesterday in the presence of the Governor of Victoria, Linda Dessau, a Memorandum of Understanding on a Strategic Partnership.
The Memorandum confers stategic depth to the cooperation between the Lombardy Region and the State of Victoria in the following sectors:
- sustainable economic recovery and growth;
- waste management and circular economy;
- agricultural and food industries;
- defence and aerospace;
- cultural and creative industries;
- sport;
- vocational training & technical and further education.
The signature of the protocol comes at the end of the visit of the Governor to Milan where she had institutional engagaments and fruitful meetings with the Italian business community with relevant economic and investment interests in Australia (Leonardo, Webuild, etc.).
The strategic partnership will serve as a platform to activate the many complementarities between the Lombardy & Victorian economic systems and will further elevate the existing Sister City relationship between Milan and Melbourne, the 20th anniversary of which will be celebrated in 2024.
