Consul General Hanna Pappalardo visits the University of Melbourne

Consul General Hanna Pappalardo visited the University of Melbourne, a member of the so-called “Group of Eight” which inlcudes the oldest and most prestigious Universities in Australia.

The University benefits strongly from the provision of a full-time lector by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and hosts an Italian Studies Program, the oldest and largest program in Victoria with a strong research & teaching track.

During the visit which was coordinated by the Director of Italian Studies, Prof. Hajek, the Consul General met with:

  • The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maskell, the Pro Vice-Chancellor International, Prof. Little, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Edele & the Head of School, Languages and Linguistic, Prof. Stirling
  • The staff of the Italian Studies
  • A selection of Italian Studies students
  • A group of Italian researchers

The Consul General was delighted to learn about the national and international standing of the University, about its strong global engagements programs and about the quality of the activities and services provided to students.

She also appreaciated the outstanding contribution made by Italian teachers and researchers to the preservation of the Italian language and culture and to the promotion of our country in Victoria.
