The celebrations of the foundation of the Republic of Italy in Melbourne have taken place at the iconic Immigration Museum. A place full of historical significance for the Italian diaspora in Australia which has been illuminated with the colors of the Italian flag.
Among the many distiguished guests, the Minister for Climate Action, Energy and Resources and for the State Electricity Commission representing the Premier of Victoria, Lily D’Ambrosio, the Leader of the Opposition, John Pesutto, members of the Victorian Parliament; the Emergency Management Commissioner for Victoria, Andrew Crisp, members of the Consular Corps in Melbourne, representatives of the Commonwealth and of the Victorian Government Institutions, members of the Italian and Italian-Australian business community, Italian and local community.

The celebrations have featured a musical program, an homage to Giuseppe Verdi, for piano and classical voices realized in cooperation with Acclaim Awards, followed by a cocktail reception and enriched by an exhibition of Italian design jewelry.
The focus of the proceedings has been on the presentation of the candidacy of Rome to the EXPO 2030; the role of the Italian community in Victoria, the reinforcement of the cooperation between Italy and Victoria and the annoucement of the formation of the Parliamentary Friends of Italy in the Victorian Parliament (bipartisan), under the leadership of Daniela De Martino MP.
