Chiara Mauri holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Milan, and a Master in Diplomacy at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies in Milan.
She joined the Italian Foreign Service in 2010, initially dealing with the organization of visits abroad by the President of the Italian Republic and state visits to Italy paid by foreign Heads of State.
In December 2012 she moved on to be Deputy Head of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Yangon, dealing with political, economic and cultural relations with Myanmar, at the time of the country’s first attempt at democratic transition and opening to the international market.
In June 2016 she was assigned to the Italian Embassy in Rabat, where she has been Head of Commercial Office. She has been responsible for managing economic and commercial relations between Italy and Morocco and between Italy and Mauritania, with the task of supporting the investments and interests of Italian companies in these countries.
Back in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in December 2020, she was first assigned to the General Directorate for the Promotion of the Country System, with the task of supporting the internationalization processes of the Italian strategic companies operating in the sectors of defense, energy, infrastructure and telecommunications.
Subsequently, since August 2022 she has been Chief of Staff at the Service for Legal Affairs, Diplomatic Disputes and Treaties.
Since 16 September 2024 she has been appointed Consul General of Italy in Melbourne with jurisdiction over the Australian States of Victoria and Tasmania.
Chiara Mauri is married and has a son. Native Italian speaker, she speaks French, English and Spanish, she has studied German.
