Parental authorization to travel for children under 14 travelling alone or accompanied by a third party

For Italian citizens under 14 years of age travelling alone or without at least one parent, the Consulate General can issue a parental authorisation on request of the parents. The authorisation  is free of charge and is issued by the Consulate General for all children residing in this Consular district. No appointment is required.

Parents may request the authorisation by filling the form and attaching:

  1. Photocopies of parents’ passports
  2. Photocopy of child’s Italian passport
  3. Photocopy of the passport of the accompanying adult (s) or, if the child is travelling alone, the airline and flight details.

Please note: In case that one of the parents is not a citizen of the European Union, this parent needs to come to the Consulate General in person, with a valid photo ID document, to sign the authorisation. The signature authentication is subject to a fee and will be legalised by a Consular officer.
