Italian Tax Code

The Consulate General of Italy in Melbourne can issue the tax code certificate to Italian citizens who request it through the FAST-It portal.

Foreign nationals who are not residents in Italy can submit the tax code request form directly at the offices of the Agenzia delle Entrate, located throughout Italy, either in person or by delegating a representative, pursuant to Article 1 of the Ministerial Decree of May 17, 2001, No. 281.

Foreign students who need the tax code for university pre-registration can automatically obtain it through the UNIVERSITALY portal during the pre-registration application. The tax code assignment can then be finalized:

• at the Immigration Desk or Police Headquarters when applying for a residence permit for non-EU students;
• at the Agenzia delle Entrate by submitting form AA4/8 for EU students.

Foreign citizens who need the tax code for purchasing real estate or for other commercial/financial activities in Italy can appoint a representative to request the tax code from the Agenzia delle Entrate, following the instructions outlined in the specific guide, available at this link: click here: TAX CODE FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS (NON-EU COUNTRIES).
