In case of an emergency (e.g. a tourist in transit with a flight leaving shortly and whose passport is lost or stolen), the Consulate General can issue an ETD (Emergency Travel Document). This document is valid for 5 days only for the return journey to Italy or to the country of legal residence (proven by AIRE registration).
To obtain the ETD document, you must come to the Consulate General (no appointment required) no sooner than 5 days from the date of departure.
You are required to report your stolen/lost passport (click here) and bring:
- 2 passport size photographs (you can obtain them from the Australia Post Office)
- Photocopy of a photo ID or photocopy of your lost/stolen passport. If not available, appropriate investigations of identity will be carried out
- Photocopy of the airline ticket
The service is subject to a feee payable in AUD by debit or credit card.
