Economic Diplomacy

The Economic Diplomacy is the activity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation aimed at supporting Italian businesses abroad and fostering the country’s growth in different areas.

The strategic objectives of the Economic Diplomacy are:

  • To support Italian companies in accessing emerging markets and its consolidation in traditional ones;
  • To support the international activity of Italian territorial entities such as Regions, Provinces, etc;
  • To attract productive investments, tourist flows and talents to Italy;
  • To promote Italian investments abroad.

Italian Trade Agency – ICE Australia. ICE – Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies.

The main functions are:

  • Consolidation and economic-commercial development of Italian companies in foreign markets;
  • Promoting the attraction of foreign investment in Italy;
  • Carrying out information, assistance, consulting, promotion and training activities for Italian small and medium-sized enterprises.

ICE’s main goal is to affirm the excellence of Made in Italy in the world.

ENIT is the National Agency for Tourism.

The main functions are:

  • Promotion of the Italian tourism abroad, including in its territorial dimension;
  • National and international promotional and information strategies abroad, supporting businesses in the marketing of Italian tourism products;
  • Promoting the marketing of authentical Italian products

The Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad (ICCAs) are associations of Italian and local business people and professionals, officially recognized by the Italian state under Law No. 518 of July 1, 1970. The ICCAs mandate is to foster the internationalization of Italian businesses and promote Made in Italy in the world.

In Australia, there are Chambers of Commerce in every state (see below). The Italian Chamber responsible for Victoria and Tasmania is the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Melbourne.
