With this type of visa, holders are allowed to stay in Italy from 91 to 365 days. Regardless of the duration of the visa obtained, whether used or not, a WHV holder cannot apply for another WHV at any later stage. Holders of this visa have the option to work for up to six months, with a limit of up to three months per each employer or just travel for tourism purposes for the entire validity of their visa.
Only Australian citizens are eligible to apply, provided they meet the following criteria:
- be a resident of Victoria or Tasmania (driver’s licence, bank statement)
- hold a current Australian passport
- be between 18 and 35 years old
- they should not have previously obtained a WHV to Italy
No dependent minor can be included in the application.

RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR WHV HOLDERS
Within 8 days from entering Italy, WHV holders must apply for a residence permit (permesso di soggiorno) from the local Police Station (Questura). For more information you can click here.
