AIRE is the registry of Italians residing abroad.<\/p>\n
AIRE registration is requested by Italian law and is a fundamental requirement to access to the services of this Consulate General.\u00a0 Law no. 213 (art.1, paragraph 242) of December 30th, 2023 (pdf (gazzettaufficiale.it)<\/a>, introduced a fine of up to EUR 1,000.00 for each year of failure to register to AIRE, for a maximum of 5 years of fine, for all Italian citizens residing abroad.<\/p>\n Registration with A.I.R.E. can be done online<\/strong> via the Fast-it<\/a>\u00a0portal.<\/p>\n Register with A.I.R.E. is easy, you only need to:<\/p>\n When registering with A.I.R.E. it is important to refer to the relevant Consulate for the applicants\u2019 area of residence<\/u><\/strong>. People residing in Victoria and Tasmania should refer to the General Consulate of Italy in Melbourne.<\/p>\n Example: Elena is moving from Italy to Melbourne, where she intends to reside for the next two years. Elena has to<\/u> register with A.I.R.E. via the online portal Fast-it<\/u>. When asked to chose the relevant Consulate, Elena should select the General Consulate of Italy in Melbourne.<\/p>\n Be aware that the applicant will not<\/strong> receive any feedback from the Consulate General of Italy in Melbourne regarding the outcome of the registration with A.I.R.E.<\/p>\n To confirm your registration and\/or request a copy of your AIRE registration certificate, you can contact your Council in Italy.<\/p>\n For more information on what AIRE is, why registering and who needs to register, click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n The update of personal details on A.I.R.E. falls within the citizen\u2019s responsibility<\/strong><\/p>\n It is of particular importance that Italian citizens registered with A.I.R.E. promptly notify the consular office of:<\/p>\n IMPORTANT:<\/p>\n If an Italian citizen registered with A.I.R.E. moves to a different consular district<\/u><\/strong>, it is necessary to start a new registration<\/u><\/strong> with A.I.R.E. via the Fast-it<\/u> portal.<\/p>\n Example: If Elena decides to leave Melbourne and to move to Brisbane, she needs to do a new registration<\/strong> with A.I.R.E.<\/p>\n Elena will need to access the Fast-it portal and select the Consulate of Brisbane as the new relevant Consulate.<\/p>\n A new registration to A.I.R.E. needs to be done even in case Elena decides to leave Australia and move to another country (except Italy).<\/p>\n IMPORTANT: Failing to update information (i.e. the change of address) may result in delays by the Consulate in getting important communication to you, such as Italian election material.<\/p>\n It is possible to transfer the AIRE registration from one Italian Municipality to another one only when you have family members linving\/registered with AIRE in the Municipality to which you wish to get transfered to.<\/p>\n To submit an application to transfer to another Municipality, please fill out this form<\/a> and send it with a copy of your own ID document to melbourne.info@esteri.it.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n Italian citizens registered with A.I.R.E. who return to Italy, must provide their new address to the local municipality (Comune) of their choice.<\/p>\n The local municipality will process the cancellation from A.I.R.E. and the registration to A.P.R.
