{"id":1056,"date":"2023-04-26T07:46:52","date_gmt":"2023-04-26T05:46:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consmelbourne.esteri.it\/?page_id=1056"},"modified":"2024-07-24T02:52:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-24T00:52:49","slug":"issue-renewal-of-italian-passport-u18","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/consmelbourne.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/issue-and-renewal-of-italian-passport-2\/issue-renewal-of-italian-passport-u18\/","title":{"rendered":"Issue\/renewal of Italian Passport &#8211; Under 18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For children under the age of 3, the passport has a vilidity of 3 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For children between 3 and 18 years old, the passport has a validity of 5 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IMPORTANT<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><u>Before<\/u> requesting the issuing of the child\u2019s first passport, it is <u>mandatory<\/u> to <a href=\"https:\/\/consmelbourne.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/birth-marriage-divorce-and-death-registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">register their birth<\/a>. The <u>registration of birth<\/u> must be submitted <strong>at least one week prior to the passport appointment<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>It is necessary to book an appointment on <a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\">Prenot@ami. <\/a>If the appointment is intended for more people, including the minor, please make sure to book a multiple appointment and to write in the notes the total number of passports required. In alternative, please book more and different slots;<\/li>\n<li>All <strong>passport applicants<\/strong> must attend the appointment<u> <strong>in person;<\/strong><\/u><\/li>\n<li><strong>Children under the age of 18 must obtain consent by <u>both<\/u> parents <\/strong>even in case of separation, de facto divorce, or adoption:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li><u>In case both parents European Union country passport holders<\/u>, it is sufficient for only one of them to attend the appointment in person. The parent attending the appointment must present the <a href=\"https:\/\/consmelbourne.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/ATTO-DI-ASSENSO-Passaporto.pdf\">consent form<\/a> signed by the other (absent) parent, together with a copy of the ID of the consent giving parent (preferably passport).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Example 1: <\/em>Andrea is an Italian citizen and Rosa is a French citizen. They have a 7-year-old child, Annalisa, who was born in Australia. Andrea and Rosa have <u>already registered Annalisa\u2019s birth <\/u>at the Consulate General of Italy in Melbourne and now they are requesting the issuing of Annalisa\u2019s <u>first <\/u>passport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the day of the appointment, Annalisa <strong>must<\/strong> be present. However, it is not mandatory that <u>both<\/u> parents attend the appointment. If, for example, Rosa can\u2019t make it to the appointment, Andrea must be present and he has to provide the consent form signed by Rosa toghether with a copy of her ID.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><u>2. If one of the parents is <strong>not<\/strong> an EU passport holder:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Both parents <strong>must<\/strong> attend the appointment <strong><u>in person<\/u><\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>The signature on the consent form must be done in front of one of the consular officers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Example 2: <\/em>Francesca is an Italian citizen and Paulo is a Brazilian citizen. They have a 16-year-old child, Leonardo, whose <u>birth has already been registered<\/u>. Francesca and Paulo now want to ask for the release of Leonardo\u2019s passport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the day of the appointment, Leonardo, Francesca, and Paulo must <strong>all<\/strong> be present at the Consular Offices. Francesca and Paulo will need to sign the consent form in front of one of the Consular Officers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Checklist<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two passport-sized photographs (obtainable from the Australian Post Office)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The applicant\u2019s valid Italian passport (if available) or other proof of ID (the Australian driver license is <strong>NOT<\/strong> considered an identity document)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Copy of ID of both parents (passport where applicable)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/consmelbourne.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/ATTO-DI-ASSENSO-Passaporto.pdf\">Consent form<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"For children under the age of 3, the passport has a vilidity of 3 years.
