COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) - NEWS AND INFORMATION FOR TRAVELLERS

PLEASE NOTE: due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in Victoria, the local Government has temporarily suspended the majority of international flights from/to Melbourne airport until at least the 15th of July. Some international flights departing from Melbourne are still available. It is highly advisable to contact your flight company before your departure to check.

TRAVEL TO ITALY

All the emergency measures taken by the Italian Government to contain the spread of COVID-19 are still in place.

However, the Italian Health Ministry has recently included Australia into a list of countries whose residents can travel to Italy for any reason including tourism.

This is only a temporary measure that is currently valid until July 14.

Whoever enters Italy coming from Australia has to:

  • Print and fill a self-declaration form
  • Report their arrival to the ASL (local healthcare office)
  • Self-isolate for a period of 14 days

The only flight companies currently operating flights to Italy from Melbourne are Qatar Airways and Emirates (please see note above regarding temporary suspension of all international flights from Melbourne until 15 July).

In order to avoid any issues during your trip to Italy, we strongly advise that you contact your flight carrier in advance before your flight to check whether they will allow you to board your flights.

Given your specific circumstances, rules may change at a short notice.

AUSTRALIAN CITIZENS, DUAL ITALIAN – AUSTRALIAN CITIZENS AND HOLDERS OF AUSTRALIAN PERMANENT VISAS

In addition to the information provided above, Australian citizens, dual Italian – Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent visas, even if travelling on their Italian passport, will still have to seek for a special exemption from the Australian Department of Home Affairs to leave the country (for more information click here).

For further information on travel to Italy please visit the Italian Ministry of Foreigner Affairs FAQs page and the Australian Government Smart Traveller web-site.
