Promoting tourism to Italy at Melbourne airport

A tourism promotion campaign organized by the Italian Consulate General in Melbourne is staged at the Australian metropolis airport.

In the baggage claim area of the international flights sector, it leased eight billboards, where three short spots on the beauty of our country will be shown on rotation for six weeks. "The goal is to intercept the many Australian tourists passing through the airport, as well as the people who will travel to Australia. In fact, will pass nearly one million people over the duration of our advertising campaign will go through the baggage claim area", said the Consul General Marco Maria Cerbo. "The initiative was made committing funds saved by operating expenses of 2015".

Australians who go abroad annually for tourism are over nine million and Italy is among their favourite destinations, despite the distance: the latest data available show that almost two hundred thousand visitors came to Italy over a year and that they have a very high propensity to spend (123 Euros per day). According to the National Tourism Observatory Unioncamere-Isnart, Australian tourists in Italy have consumed goods and services to the value of 945 million euros in a year.
