Italy & Australia

Despite the distance, the ties between Italy and Australia are very strong. Thanks to the long history of emigration, the Italian influence in Australia is all-around and clearly visible in every city across the Country.  Australians love the creativity, the refinement and the authenticity of the “Made in Italy”. They are fascinated by the “Italian living” and Melbourne is traditionally considered the largest Italian city outside of Europe and the Americas.

With a positive trade balance of about 4 billion euros, Italy is the eleventh largest supplier of Australia and the second largest in the European Union (EU). The presence of large Italian industrial groups and other smaller businesses, albeit technologically advanced is also rooted.  According to the most recent data, there are about 210 Italian companies in Australia, operating in almost all sectors: energy- especially renewables – engineering, security and defence, shipbuilding, infrastructure and construction, fashion and luxury, automotive, fitness, and of course food and beverage.
